Drug Company, Wyeth, Complains About Natural Progesterone

On October 16, 2005, the US-based pharmaceutical company, Wyeth, filed a Citizen's Petition with the FDA requesting that they effectively prohibit compounding pharmacies from providing bio-identical hormones to their patients.

Dr. Rima E. Laibow, on her website www.healthfreedomusa.org, states the following:

"Wyeth maintains that its actions are motivated by concerns about the safety of the natural substances and the way the prescriptions for them are filled. In its complaint it alleges that compounding pharmacists state that natural hormones are safer than synthetic, patented ones and that some have been "illegally" mass produced, rather than individually compounded. Wyeth also asks the FDA to regulate compounding pharmacists although they are regulated by the states, not by the federal government. (Supreme Court Decision - Thompson et al. v. Western States Medical Center et al., U.S. Supreme Court Case No. 01-344, Decided April 29, 2002m http://www.fda.gov/cder/pharmcomp/supremeCourt.pdf.)"

On her web site, Dr. Laibow also says:

"Consumers, compounding pharmacists, physicians practicing bio identical and health freedom advocates are up in arms over this action by Wyeth. States, not the federal government have jurisdiction over compounding pharmacies. Health freedom advocates characterize Wyeth's move as seeking an extension of federal power on its behalf and attempting to eliminate a competitor in a failing market.

Health freedom advocates also fear that this is merely another step in the restriction of the consumer's right to make their own health choices whether or not they add to the pharmaceutical or medical coffers. Physicians and patients who have experienced the benefit of bio identical hormones fear that they will lose a powerful, gentle and effective option to drugs when they need to replace and regulate their hormone levels. During the final days of the comment period, the traffic was so heavy that the FDA's electronic comment system was reportedly overwhelmed."

Please Help Us Inform the FDA About Natural Progesterone And Your Health

We are sending you this news now because there is still time to send comments to the FDA regarding the very positive benefits you have experienced with Natural Progesterone. The time limit has been extended to May 4th, 2006. You may do this on-line through a link at www.naturezonegel.com or directly through Dr. Laibow's site. Her link is at the top of her home page "FDA Extends comment period for hormones." Her site is at www.healthfreedomusa.org. You may also mail the enclosed letter to the FDA with your comments added. An addressed envelope has been provided for your convenience. (Please add postage. Your 39-cent stamp is greatly appreciated!)

It is only through grass-roots efforts like these that the FDA can know the truth about these health benefits. Your time in this matter is so important and greatly appreciated!

Codex Alimentarius: A Global Effort To Restrict Natural Supplements To All Countries

If you will allow me to quote Dr. Laibow again, let us first understand what health freedom is:

"Health freedom means the freedom to choose your own health products, treatments, and practitioners. No one, government or corporation, should dictate or limit these choices.

"Health freedom means access to supplements (vitamins, minerals, amino acids, etc.), herbs, homeopathic remedies, nutritional medicine and clean food (untainted by pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics), without corporations (through the use of government coercion) dictating to you what dosages and treatments you are allowed to use."

"It is your health and it should rest in your hands, with the cooperation of a health care professional who is open to effective methods of healing."

With very public scandals like Enron and the not-so-recent efforts of Tobacco companies in the forefront of our memories, let me emphasize that an attempt to exploit mankind's wealth and/or health for the economic gain of a few is not a new idea, nor is it an impossibility. The new ploys of an old United Nations department is trying to restrict our health freedoms by posing as a consumer advocate. This front is accomplished by making public relations statements promoting their efforts to "protect" the public from toxic vitamins and minerals.

Codex Alimentarius was created in the 1960's as a UN commission to ensure that all peoples of the world would have good food and that no trade barriers would impact the ability to obtain that food. Some forty years later, many fear that the commission is now being corrupted by huge businesses. The report is that these huge corporations are trying to create a monopoly for their products by outlawing the ability for the peoples of our world to let the riches of nature provide food and continued health.

As are many monopoly attempts, this plan seems stealthy. First, pay mass media huge amounts to advertise products generating billions of dollars into the communications industry and forcing them to become heavily reliant on that income. Secondly, use that economic clout to be sure the media creates public opposition to natural remedies through tainted news stories, articles, and even entertainment. Finally, in quiet, small, and systematic steps, use misinformed public opinion and national governments to outlaw anything that would compete with their own products producing a legal and global monopoly: the control of billions of people by a few.

Many grass roots organizations are making an attempt to educate the public to this threat. The documents and "science" Codex is using to promote their intentions are complicated, but in future newsletters, we will continue with our reports. Until then, Dr. Rima E. Laibow's website, www.healthfreedomusa.org, is a good place to begin understanding what we can do to thwart this unpublished problem. Please join us in this important cause.
