What is the Gel

One of the problems our industry has faced all along is how to deliver Natural Progesterone most effectively to the body's system. Early on, tests proved that oral ingestion sent the progesterone through the liver destroying approximately 80% of the dosage on the first pass.

(An interesting side note: the same problem also affects synthetic hormones. This is why such massive doses must be prescribed. Unfortunately, these synthetic hormones have few benefits and too many detrimental side effects, i.e. breast cancer, pulmonary embolisms, uterine cancer, osteoporosis, etc. The massive doses of these synthetics dump so many toxins in the body, it becomes very dangerous even though the liver does its best to eliminate them.)

Topical deliveries for Natural Progesterone were then tried. Some products used petroleum jelly as a base or other non-absorbing substances which simply stay on top of the skin. This method delivers very little progesterone to the body. Topical, water-based cream was found to deliver the progesterone through the skin and fatty tissues much better than oral ingestion or petroleum based jellies. As such, topical creams became the industry standard during the past decade.

The down side to the cream method, however, is this: Most people use enough cream to deliver about 40 mg of progesterone a day which, if left undisturbed for 30 minutes to a hour, will deliver most or all of that 40 mg. However, in the real world, this is almost impossible as the cream is a water-based formula and can be inadvertently washed, wiped, sweated or dabbed off when coming in contact with clothing. (I mean really, how many of us stand around naked for 30 minutes to an hour waiting for the progesterone to absorb!)

We at Naturezone and those at other companies have changed formulas many times trying to come up with a product that isn't gritty and absorbs quickly and completely. We only sold a cream formula for many years as it was the best the industry had to offer. We couldn't quite put our finger, though, on the reason why the absorbtion rate wasn't any better. About the year 2000, the industry discovered that Natural Progesterone is not soluble in water; and since oil bases stay on top of the skin, we were put between a rock and a hard place!

Enter the new, patented Gel Formula! This approach provides absolute, bio-available Natural Progesterone within 1-5 minutes after application. It is sold in a handy, 3.5 ounce pump which delivers one average dose per pump (approx. 1/2 teaspoon).

Some of our customers enjoy the moist base contained in our cream formula which is also sold in a handy, 3.5 ounce pump and delivers one dose per pump (approx. 1/2 teaspoon). This formula, however, only absorbs after 30 to 60 minutes and can easily be wiped off on clothes or washed off in the shower or the pool.
